BETTER THAN GOOD
Quote from the Book
“You are not what you think you are. What you think, you are” (p.47)
The Author
Zig Ziglar is an internationally known author, inspirational/motivational speaker, and authority on how to have a “better than good” life. His philosophy on life and business – which emphasizes integrity, loyalty, faith, honesty, and character – has evolved into training programs that have changed the lives of thousands of people for the better. Ten of Ziglar’s twenty-five books have appeared on best-seller lists, including, See you at the Top, Raising Positive Kids in a Negative World, Courtship after Marriage, Success for Dummies, Confessions of a Happy Christian, and Secrets of Closing the Sale. Ziglar was a father of four children and was married to their mother, the former Jean Abernathy – The Redhead – for sixty-six years. They resided in Plano, Texas, and are members of Prestonwood Baptist Church where Ziglar taught The Encouragers Sunday school class. He died on November 28, 2012, at the age of 86.
Insights from the Book
In the real-life stories Zig shares, drawn from nearly fifty years as a world-class motivational author, speaker, and businessman, you’ll discover how others have risen above fear and failure to embrace the quality of life they were meant to have. Their experiences will teach you how to accomplish more than you ever dreamed possible. In doing this, Zig shares some powerful practical principles such as: the three pillars of the Better than Good Life; how to develop a strategic plan that accomplishes your goal; what often keeps good people from reaching the ultimate level of productivity and happiness; and ways to form better-than-good habits that can take you to new horizons of success.
The whole idea of “Better than Good” life is wrapped up in three clearly defined parts which Zig captioned as: The passion of the “Better than Good” Life; The Peak Performance of the “Better than Good” Life; and the Purpose of the “Better than Good” Life. So, if you are looking for a simple way to describe this book, it is all about Passion, Peak-Performance, and Purpose. One last word that Zig used to wrap-up the book is worth noting: “If you will begin today to love God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength through a relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ, you will not regret your past and you can look forward to your future because it will be ” better than good” (p.232).
