 The Author

Gbile Akanni is the author of this book. He is a teacher of God’s word committed to the revival of the body of Christ and the transformation of nations through concerted disciples and spiritual leadership. He resides in Gboko, Nigeria, together with his wife, Sade where they run several meetings on leadership and discipleship that attract several thousand participants both within and outside of Nigeria. His other books include: “Becoming Like Jesus”, “What God Looks For in His Vessels”, “Oracle For Leaders”, and “Tapping God’s Resources For Life and Ministry.”

Insights from the Book

This book contains twelve chapters spread over 167 pages. It is a simple but profound analysis of the downward movement of a covenant family of Elimelech who migrated from Bethlehem, “The House of Bread” to the accursed city of Moab where they lost not only their material possessions but their children as well. However, the providence and the Abraham covenant heritage would not allow them to remain doomed forever. The resultant calamity that befell Elimelech’s family, Naomi’s unflinching resolve, Boaz’ godly disposition, Ruth’s exemplary commitment to discipleship walk under Naomi and the fruits thereof is a compelling lesson for this generation.

This book is presented in a devotional format such that the reader could find relevant junctures to pause, meditate, and pray with several revelations that pervade the pages. The high point in the book is the particular challenge and hope it brings to every backsliding believer that he/she can rise out of obscurity and shame into their glorious destiny in Christ. The author sounded a timely warning that a slight degree of deviation from God’s purpose for one’s life may become thousands of miles away from your course. A brief trip into backsliding may actually trip your feet into the bottomless pit of woe and confusion. This book is a revival pill for everyone who wants to embrace the everlasting love of God and maintain a perpetual spiritual vitality.
