HAVE YOU EXPERIENCED THE SOVEREIGN POWER OF GOD?
” The Lord killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave and bringeth up” (1 Sam. 2:6)
God is the sole creator of heaven and earth. He is also the sustainer of the same. His power knows no bound. He is self-sufficient; he doesn’t depend on anyone for his existence.
God exists on his own, and he created all things for his own good pleasure. The Bible says: “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.” (Rev. 4:11)
However, one force every human dread is that of death. Fortunately, as believers, one of the benefits of our redemption is freedom from the power of death. Jesus’ death is meant to “free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death” (Heb. 2:15). You should not live in perpetual dread of death. The power of death is no longer with the devil.
In today’s text, the word says God alone has the power to kill and make alive. That is the description of God’s sovereign power. That is why he is called the resurrection and the life (John 11:25).
Paul tasted of this awesome power of God over death at different times on his sojourn here on the earth. At a point, he was stoned to death, but suddenly, he jerked back to life and continued his business of preaching (Acts 14:19-22)
At another instance, he ridiculed death by unequivocally stated that he had an option to chose between dying or staying alive: “If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far” (Phil. 1: 22-23 –
Yet, at another instance, Paul described his victory and mastery over the force of death as real and perpetual: “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” (1 Cor.15:55-57).
Now, as believers, how do you make this victory your daily experience? First, believe in the truth of what Christ has accomplished on the cross and through his ressurection. Second, hold fast to your confession that you’re more than a conqueror. Third, don’t give room to fear in your heart because fear itself has torment. Finally, celebrate your victory continually.
I love you massively ❤
