The Author
Richard Templar is the pen name of this British author who has written several self-development books. He shares his “path to success” in a series of books, in which 100 simple “Rules” are presented to achieve success: be it in business, money, or life in general.Rules are typically presented on two pages, making the books easy to read, and suitable for dipping into at random. The books contain the distinctive use of British English. One reviewer writes that Templar’s style is in neither of the “iron fisted” or “fuzzy warm” camps prevalent in American management books, but mixes both.He died in 2006.
Insights from the Book
Some people seem to be just good at life. They glide effortlessly onwards and upwards, always seeming to know the right things to say and do, in every situation. Everybody likes them – they are great tobe with and to live with. They are happy and they know how to roll with life’s punches. They have time for everybody and always seem to know what’s most important and how to deal with what’s not. The question is, is there something they know and do that we don’t? Is it something we could all learn? Richard said the answer is a mostdefinite yes. They know the Rules of Life. The Rules of Life are the guiding principles that will help you get more out of life, shrug off adversity more easily and generally be a happier, calmer, more fulfilled person. You’ll feel the benefits – and so will everyone around you. As usual, Richard organized these 100 rules in five subtitles namely: Rules for you; Partnership Rules; Family and friends Rules; Social Rules; and World Rules.
Author Richard Templar brings together 100 practical rules that happy, successful people follow, even if they’ve never thought about it. These are realistic, commonsense things you can do differently, starting today… small things that make a powerful difference. Templar offers real wisdom on: Deciding what’s important and what isn’t focusing on changes you really can make using your intuition; Learning positive lessons from your regrets; having great dreams and making practical plans; staying young; Forgiving without becoming a pushover; Follow The Rules of Life. You’ll feel better. You’ll be a better friend, partner, and parent. And you’ll leave the world a better place.
