The Author

The late Oswald J. Sanders was a consulting director of Overseas Missionary Fellowship and Carried out an international preaching ministry. He was awarded the Order of the British Empire for Christian and theological writing. His many books include The Incomparable Christ, Satan Is No Myth, and Enjoying Intimacy with God.

One of the problems facing the world today is that of authentic leadership. Even the world most celebrated leaders are still facing a lot of criticism as a result of one thing or the other which are obviously lacking in their leadership disposition. Most saddening is the fact that the church, which supposes to be producing authentic leaders for the society appears not to be up to its task, the result is the weak leadership that is seen around in churches, homes and the society at large.
In Spiritual Leadership, J. Oswald Sanders shows us the way to lead (serve) the body of Christ and as well exert a positive influence on the society. According to Sanders, leadership cannot be successful by using methods or lording it over others; rather it is attained by calling and positive character.
He also made it clear that spiritual leadership is not the exclusive reserve of a certain group of people, but it “falls on someone who years earlier sought to practice the discipline of seeking first the Kingdom of God. Then as that person matures, God confers a leadership role, and the Spirit of God goes to work through him,”
To be called to lead is not enough in order to succeed, leaders must exert themselves to lead and keep leadership at ‘boiling point’. The assignment must be done with all spirituality and zeal; it must consume the leader completely.
