Insights from the Book

God wants you to be successful in life. Actually, God did not create anyone a failure; he wants everyone to be an outstanding success in life. If you have seen yourself as a failure or people have regarded you as one before, then this book is a must read. In this book, Carson argues that you must be able to separate a failed event from the personality that attempted the event. That you wrote an exam, for instance, and you failed does not make you a failure; you only failed the event probably because you did not set your priority well. If you put things right, prepare well and make another attempt, the result would be different. That is the truth Ben Carson captures in this book. This legend is still alive in the state of Maryland in the US. Against all odds, he rose to prominence. Carson says the letters of “Think Big” stand for the following: TALENT: Our Creator has endowed all of us not just with the ability to sing, dance or throw a ball, but with intellectual talent; HONESTY:  lead a clean and honest life; don’t put skeletons in the closet; INSIGHT: Learn from those who have gone ahead in your field; NICE: If you’re nice to people, then once they get over the suspicion of why you’re being nice, they will be nice to you KNOWLEDGE: It makes you into a more valuable person; BOOKS: They are the mechanism for obtaining knowledge, as opposed to television; IN-DEPTH LEARNING: Learn for the sake of knowledge and understanding, rather than for the sake of impressing people or taking a test; GOD: Never get too big for Him. Without God in your life, you can never discover your purpose in life. God is your source and without Him, you cannot find fulfillment.
